10 steps to Happiness.

1 - LOOK FOR HAPPINESS If you are looking for reasons why the world is out to get you,you will find them. If you are looking for reasons to be happy, you are more likely to find happiness.

2 - CELEBRATE GOOD NEWS "Not so bad" has become a conditioned response to the question "How are you?" Is a social shorthand that expresses nothing,no happiness,no sadness,no commitment. Think of good news...No matter how minor.

3 - REMEMBER WHAT IS IMPORTANT Remember Monty Pythons 100 meter dash for the people with poor sense of direction? The gun goes off,the athlete's run off in random directions.When your alarm goes off,do you run headlong onto a full day? Are you running towards what is really important? Don't let details bog you down.

4 - RISE AND SHINE,DON'T RISE AND WHINE Most early morning thoughts are about showers,make-up,children,food,clothes,transport and work. Percentage wise how much time did you spend this morning preparing your body for today as opposed to your mind? Decide how you want to be happy? Relaxed?

5 - REAP WHAT YOU SOW If you want loyalty, be loyal.If you want love,be loving.If you want acceptance,be accepting. Be pro-active. It will come back to you.

6 - WORK TO LIVE,DON'T LIVE TO WORK Workaholism is an endemic to our culture. Any 'Life' we do have is often recovery from work. We don't stop playing because we grow old,we grow old because we stop playing.

7 - SMILE,LAUGH IT WON'T HURT YOU Physicians,Philosophers and priests of all cultures have acknowledged the healing properties of laughter. When a child laughs for no reason - it triggers curiosity.

8 - PAY COMPLIMENTS Compliments are affirmations, they strengthen both the receiver and the giver. Any positive quality in yourself is to spot in someone else and compliment them on it.

9 - GRATITUDE Remember all the things you have to be grateful for. Gratitude is a good medicine,it puts things into perspective.

10 - DON'T POSTPONE HAPPINESS Don't wait for your next pay rise,your next holiday,or the weekend to be happy. Don't live a life of martyrdom and self-denial,hoping that one day you will be happy. Pay compliments,celebrate good news,work to live...be happy now!
